Student Presentation Guide
For your classroom presentations. I'd suggest the following format.
1. Motivate the question
2. A brief summary of the literature. What will be your contribution
relative to others.
3. Motivate the paper, tell what the purpose is and then demonstrate the
point.
4. Conclude. What do you learn or hope to learn from this.
5. Keep it within your allotted time. I would suggest no more than 7-10
slides.
6. Practice this multiple times. Know precisely how long your presentation
will take. Be careful not to spend much time talking about other people's
papers or ideas that are tangential to your main point.
Bring slides and handouts for the class and keep the presentations. Be
professional and dress professional. On top of your allotted time you should
receive questions about your paper. You will be graded on 1. paper idea 2.
presentation clarity, 3. your knowledge of the literature and 4. your
understanding of the paper you are presenting. 5. Your handling of
questions.
